Zebra
Zebra Technologies Corporation is a publicly traded company based in Lincolnshire, Illinois, USA, that manufactures and sells marking, tracking, and computer printing technologies. Its products include thermal barcode label and receipt printers, RFID smart label printers/encoders/fixed and handheld readers/antennas, and card and kiosk printers used for barcode labeling, personal identification, and specialized printing primarily in the manufacturing supply chain, retail, healthcare, and government sectors.
Zebra was founded in 1969 as Data Specialties Incorporated, a manufacturer of high-speed electromechanical products. The company focused on on-demand custom labeling and ticketing systems in 1982 and became Zebra Technologies Corporation in 1986. Zebra became a public company in 1991. It began manufacturing RFID smart labels in 2004.
In December 2023, Zebra partnered with Verizon Business to create a software suite that would enable a faster private 5G network.
In 2023, Zebra introduced Zebra Workcloud, a suite of purpose-built enterprise software applications primarily serving the retail, banking, and healthcare sectors. Zebra also introduced the WS50, its first Workcloud-enabled wearable Android touch computer.
